WELCOME TO
'THE SCARY SUZIE STORY PRIZE' 2026!

2026 is the UK's National Year of Reading and also the inaugural year of
'The Scary Suzie Story Prize', a free-to-enter competition launched by Hummy Press to find the best eerily entertaining stories, written by children and teens in foster care in East Anglia. Three winning spooky stories will be chosen from all of the entries, and the winning authors will each receive National Book Tokens worth £50, and have their story published on the Hummy Press website!

If you are currently in foster care, between the ages of 5 and 17, and have a tale to tell about menacing monsters, ghoulish ghosts or bizarre beasts then why not get writing and enter your story via the submission form at the bottom of this page!
